How to change basic sound effects in Trainz Simulator game? This guide will show you where to find the appropriate folder for the TANE version.

The main folder with sound effects is stored in the main directory of the game, that is, where the game is installed:

C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz A New Era\resources\builtin\base\content\kuid 570470 100003\sounds
C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz Railroad Simulator 2019\resources\builtin\base\content\kuid 570470 100003\sounds
C:\Program Files\N3V Games\Trainz Plus\resources\builtin\base\content\kuid2 570470 100003 2\sounds

All folders can be overwritten, but I recommend keeping the original if necessary, just create a .wav sound effect in the folder where the sound effect is currently stored and copy it to the new folder. Then rewrite the individual files to a new sound effect, for example insert “silence” instead of the original files.

Keep in mind that sound effect files such as track, engine, or brake sound use some basic TANE game models and may not sound nice with “silence”.

I do not recommend overwriting the original audio files if you have SP1 HF1 and above installed. It breaks game compatibility and crashes!!!

I have created the following files for overwriting, just overwrite. contain the original sounds in a new folder.
